Federal Advocacy
Mental Health America of San Diego County supports local, state and federal advocacy programs.
In addition to political advocacy the MHA also works hard to erase stigma. Stigma, ignorance,
denial and other factors affecting clients, family members and professionals prevent treatment of an
estimated 50% of mental disorders. MHA must educate parents, teachers, physicians, employers
and others so that all mental disorders are recognized.
