RADY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL LEADER HONORED
MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA OF SAN DIEGO COUNTY SALUTED KATHLEEN A. SELLICK
SAN DIEGO Kathleen A. Sellick, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, was honored Tuesday, May 4 at a celebratory luncheon presented by Mental Health America of San Diego County.
Under the banner of “Healthy Minds Luncheon,” the sixth annual event held at the U.S. Grant Hotel (Presidential Ballroom) in downtown San Diego, from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Ms. Sellick will receive the “Leadership in Action” award, personally presented to her by the hospital’s benefactor, San Diego-based philanthropist Ernest Rady.
The organization, which has been active in San Diego since 1942, is dedicated to promoting mental health, preventing mental and substance abuse conditions and achieving victory over mental illnesses and addictions through advocacy, education, research and service. The annual event recognizes the contributions to this mission by San Diego business and community leaders.

Under Ms. Sellick’s leadership, Rady Children’s Hospital ranks among the nation’s finest children’s hospitals. The facility provides comprehensive mental health and psychosocial services to several thousand San Diego children and their families, as part of its full-service pediatric medical facility in Kearny Mesa.
Ms. Sellick has been President/CEO at Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego since 2006. Prior to joining the healthcare institution, she served five years as Executive Director of the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA.
Carol LeBeau, former news anchor at KGTV/Channel 10 and a long-time healthy living advocate, served as Master of Ceremonies. Past “Leadership in Action” award honorees include San Diego-based developer/charity leader Morgan Dene Oliver, Paul Hering of Barney & Barney, Sharp HealthCare president Michael Murphy, California legislator Darrel Steinberg and Dr. Ruth Covell of the UCSD School of Medicine.
