About the event

Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults addresses the unique mental health challenges people aged 50 and older experience and teaches participants how to notice and respond to an older adult who may be living with a mental illness or addiction. Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This training — which focuses on the unique experiences and needs of adults over the age of 65 — gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

Please note that this is an In-Person 1-day, 8-hr training. At the end of the training, each participant will receive certification that is good for 3 years. Two 15-minutes break and 30-minutes for lunch will be provided. Mental Health America of San Diego County is following the guidelines provided by the County of San Diego. If you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms, have been around someone who has the COVID or waiting for test results, we will encourage you to register to our Virtual training's or return to attend the in-person training 14 days from the initial training date. If you have any questions, please contact us at (619) 543-0412 ext. 113, 114 or 121
