About the event
Youth Mental Health First Aid USA is an 8-hour public education program that introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Mental Health First Aid uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help; and connect young people to professional, peer, social, and self-help care.
This is a virtual two-day training session, with each session lasting 4 hours. Attendance on both days is required to receive certification. Please ensure you have a Zoom/Teams account and check your connection before the training date. Cameras must remain on throughout the sessions, and the instructor will provide time for breaks. Participants will receive an invitation the day before training. Please check your spam folder if you don’t see it in your inbox. If it hasn’t arrived at least 15 minutes before the session begins, call us at (619) 543-0412 ext. 113, 114, or 121.
