Senior Accountant

POSITION DESCRIPTION


POSITION TITLE:               Senior Accountant


DEPARTMENT:                  Accounting


SALARY:                            Full-time – Non-Exempt, Annual Salary $60,000.00


BENEFITS:                         Full Health Benefits, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and auto allowance mileage


REPORTS TO:                    Executive Director, Finance Director


Work Schedule:               MHASD operates on a 40 hour work week; typical schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  However, flexibility is required due to the nature of business.  Schedule may be changed as needed to include evenings, weekends and holidays.


Position Summary:         The Senior Accountant is a full-time position. Responsible for all bookkeeping/accounting functions of Accounting Department MHASD.


Essential Functions:

  • In charge of bookkeeping functions related to general accounting procedures including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliation.

  • Maintain accounts and records for departmental systems and internal financial control activities.

  • Perform accounts payable functions by verifying invoices for payment, check requests, mileage reimbursement and credit card purchases.

  • Maintain an accurate filing system of paid invoices.

  • Perform account receivables functions such as monthly invoice preparation to the contracts, assist in payment tracking and general ledger posting.

  • Process semi-monthly payroll and maintain confidential information and documentation. Review the accuracy of quarterly payroll Federal and State tax reports.

  • Prepare annual W2’s and 1099’s using QuickBooks software.

  • Review and be knowledgeable about incoming documents for proper procedural and legal adherence.

  • Assist in preparation of annual internal and external audit by preparing requested documents.

  • Communicate with funding contract monitors regarding contract compliance matters.

  • Perform general ledger reconciliation and month end close activities.

  • Other related duties as required and/or assigned by Finance Director.

  • Accounting and bookkeeping principles, practices and procedures.

  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts, processes, and systems.

  • Interprets and explains to others a wide variety of rules, regulations, procedures and forms.

  • Maintains records, logs and files.

  • Solid knowledge of state and federal employment laws

  • Drafts memos and correspondence.

  • Detail oriented, deadline motivated and well organized.

  • Possess strong problem analysis and problem resolution.

  • Personnel and payroll terminology.

  • Payroll preparation and accounting methods

  • Telephone, office, and online etiquette

  • Current technology and trends in the profession 

  • Post to and adjust payroll records. Refer to schedules, charts and listings.

  • Establish effective working relationships with management, employees, employee representatives and the public representing diverse cultures and backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications and proficiency with spreadsheets

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and capable of effectively interacting with professional staff.

  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects needs simultaneously and ability to prioritize.

  • We also need a professional who is willing to work cross-departmentally with accounting to ensure the entire business runs as smoothly as possible.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent of years of accounting experience preferably in nonprofit organization.

  • 2-3 or more years of full cycle payroll processing. Experience with QuickBooks.

  • Able to operate a personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.);

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make non-biased recommendations that are in compliance with employment laws yet balanced with the larger business picture.

  • Able to process information and apply common sense understanding to follow and carry out written or oral instructions.

  • Able to analyze, solve and respond to problems or concerns.

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships at all levels across the company. Professional and friendly demeanor.

  • Ability to take initiative and know when to follow someone else’s lead.

  • Works effectively in complex environments with uncertainties, needing only indirect supervision

License
A valid California Class C driver’s license, which must be maintained throughout employment in this class, is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use their own vehicle, (with mileage reimbursement), and the ability to provide and maintain valid auto Insurance.

Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Candidates will be subject to a background investigation.

Crisis Case Manager

POSITION TITLE:      Crisis Case Manager


DEPARTMENT:         Building Healthy Families/Family Urgent Response System


SALARY RANGE:       $41,000 - $45,000 Annually - Full Time, Exempt


BENEFITS:                  Health/Vision/Dental/mileage Reimbursement, time-off benefits, such as vacations and paid holidays


REPORTS TO:            Program Manager


WORK SCHEDULE:    Crisis Case Manager is a salary employee, with the ability to adjust. Typical schedule is 8:30am to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Crisis Case Manager maybe on-call during non-regular business hours. Schedule may be changed as needed to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.


PROGRAM OVERVIEW:        BHF/FURS Program is a program designed to provide a coordinated, comprehensive, 24/7 Family Urgent Response System. This program will provide trauma informed, strength based, culturally competent, gender-responsive crisis intervention and case management services to youth in foster care/probation or former foster youth.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Address all urgent calls within 60 minutes.

  • Address non-emergency referrals from CWS within 1 day of referral.

  • Develop safety and stabilization plan with youth.

  • Address youth's immediate needs and provide crisis support.

  • Conduct follow-up within 24 hours of initial response, via phone calls or in-person visit.

  • Link youth to follow-up services.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

  • Attend all trainings and workshops.

  • Assist and Support Parent Partners and Youth Support Partners

  • Ensure and continue to develop community resources for youth and families.

  • Complete all required documentation and reports.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling required.

  • Two years working with at-risk youth.

  • Detail oriented and compliance with required documentation.

  • Knowledge and ability to work with culturally diverse populations.

  • Knowledge of community resources.

  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Must pass Background Clearance.

  • Must have current CA Driver License and current car insurance.
